Why is parging important?
Parging protects foundation walls from weather exposure and surface deterioration. It also helps seal small gaps and cracks in the foundation surface.
A properly maintained parging layer acts as a first line of defence for the foundation wall and can also help discourage insects and rodents from entering through surface openings.
How long does a parging recoat take?
Most textured parging recoats take one to two days per home, depending on preparation and repairs required.
If an acrylic finish is selected, the cement parging is installed first and allowed to cure for approximately 5–7 days depending on weather, after which the colour coating is applied.
Do you offer parging repairs instead of a full recoat?
Yes. If the existing parging is mostly intact, we can complete patch repairs, crack sealing, and localized repairs to stabilize the surface and extend the life of the current parging.
Because patch repairs involve placing new cement beside existing, older parging, the repaired areas may remain visible, which is normal when new and existing cement surfaces meet.
Please note that warranties do not apply to patch repairs, as the work involves repairing over existing surfaces that were originally installed by other contractors.
We can also assist with sealing around basement windows, including resealing existing windows or sealing newly installed basement window openings.
Can you parge retaining walls or sections of walls?
Yes. In addition to full foundation recoats, we also complete section parging, retaining wall parging, and partial wall repairs.
Do you install parging indoors?
Yes. We also install foundation wall parging inside basements and garages where a cement finish is desired.
In some cases, homeowners request decorative parging finishes for an industrial-style appearance on interior walls.
